A post-doctoral position is available in the research unit U1177 Drugs and Molecules for Living Systems, (INSERM, Pasteur Institute of Lille and University of Lille), specialized in medicinal chemistry, parallel synthesis, screening and ADME.
Aim of the research project:
Antimicrobial resistance is a major threat to global healthcare and new tools are urgently needed to combat drug-resistant bacteria. The candidate will conduct research in collaboration with the TB experts of the CIIL (A. Baulard, P. Brodin, R. Hartkoorn), in association with a large national consortium of 9 laboratories and more than 50 experts, developing a set of new and synergistic small molecules targeting M. tuberculosis.
This project called Mustart (Multiparametric Strategies against Antibiotic Resistance in Tuberculosis) is supported by the French program “Investissement d’avenir” (https://anr.fr/ProjetIA-20-PAMR-0005).
Mission:
The candidate will be responsible for developing and optimising the chemical series identified in the project. The candidate's work will include the design, synthesis and interpretation of biological data. The candidate will have access to the following techniques: solution and solid phase synthesis, single or parallel synthesis, microwave chemistry, automated preparative HPLC, automated flash chromatography, NMR analysis, LC-MS analysis, chemoinformatics (pipeline pilot, MOE, Pymol, etc) and will have access to our Screening and ADME platforms.
Candidate profile:
We are seeking a candidate with a PhD in organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry. He/she will have a strong experience in multi-step synthesis and will be familiar with LC-MS, 1D and 2D NMR. A strong knowledge in electrochemistry would be a plus. A good knowledge of IT tools (bibliographic databases (Reaxys, SCiFinder, PubMed), NMR spectra processing) is important. It is essential that the candidate is able to work efficiently in the context of an international collaboration and interact with biologists. The candidate should demonstrate rigor, creativity, initiative, and excellent team work.
Applicant should send a CV, cover letter (French or English) and list of two references to Pr Nicolas Willand (nicolas.willand(at)univ-lille.fr) with “Post-doc application” in the title of the e-mail.
Deadline for application July 10th, 2024
What analytical techniques, such as NMR and LC-MS analysis, will the candidate use in the project?
